Thelma back at Red Cross helm
The Berrigan Red Cross annual meeting was held on Wednesday, July 18 in the Old Shire Building, with 20 members attending.
All office bearers were returned unopposed - President Thelma Ryan, vice presidents Marion Dickins and Ian Fox, secretary Anne Wilson, treasurer Lyndall Horne and assistant Inara Fox, shop manager Beth Trewarne and a big welcome to Rochelle Graham as assistant secretary.
Four members received long service recognition, Leila Batten and Joan Pyle for 40 years, Moira Arnold 30 years and Diana Collins 20. Congratulations ladies on your wonderful contribution to Red Cross.
Members are reminded of the Church Service at St Columba’s Church on Sunday August 18, at 10.30am.
On Wednesday, August 15 the branch will celebrate their 98th birthday with a luncheon at the Royal Hotel at noon.

●●● National Tree Planting Day is this Sunday, July 29.
The work gets underway about 9.30am, at the Amaroo Hostel.
Please meet at front of Amaroo on Davis St, planting of trees will take place around the new walking track.

●●● The community was saddened to learn of the passing of Ray Cot- tam last Tuesday, July 17.
He died after a long battle with cancer.
Ray has had a huge impact on our community and beyond.
Ray’s funeral was last Monday in front of a huge crowd from many parts of Australia.
Sympathy is extended to Joan, daughter Mandy, Brendan and his grandchildren Lachlan, Catherine and Harry.
Our thoughts are also with the Cottam family in Berrigan - Joe and Carol.
●●● The Berrigan Drama Club presents Disco Inferno.
It starts with a three day run on August 10, 11 and 12, and the final weekend will be August 17 and 18.
Tickets are $40 per person, and can be purchased from the post office.
