Ba­rooga head lad­der af­ter win over Nathalia

Round Seven of the Mur­ray Val­ley Cricket As­so­ci­a­tion has seen Ba­rooga move to out­right top spot on the lad­der with a close win over sec­ond placed Nathalia, while Strath­mer­ton has moved to third with an­other close win over fourth placed Co­bram.

Ba­rooga man­aged to chase down Nathalia’s score of 184 in the 44th over to take out­right top spot on the lad­der. Ba­rooga won the toss and sent Nathalia in to bat at Nathalia on Satur­day.

Nathalia’s Ash Quinn top scored with 51 runs in a to­tal of 6/184 off their 45 overs.

Ba­rooga’s Justin Maley was the best of the bowlers tak­ing 2-22 off his nine overs.

Big-hit­ting Ba­rooga opener Ben Mansell then set up the win with an in­nings of 82 runs which in­cluded seven fours and three sixes.

Brodie Ross was the best of the Nathalia bowlers, tak­ing 2-26 from his five overs.

In the match be­tween CYU and Katem­atite the toss was won by vis­it­ing side CYU.

They sent Kata­matite in first. An­drew Erick­son (29) and Tom Pendle­bury (28 n.o.) were the best of the Kata­matite bats­men in their to­tal of 134 off 44.3 overs.

Sam Fitz­patrick was the best of the CYU bowlers tak­ing 4-27 off nine overs.

CYU then chased the tar­get down in the 29th over with the loss of only two wick­ets to re­ceive one ex­tra bonus point. Skip­per Stu­art Thomson top­scored with 71 not out in­clud­ing nine fours and two sixes.
