Barooga head ladder after win over Nathalia
Round Seven of the Murray Valley Cricket Association has seen Barooga move to outright top spot on the ladder with a close win over second placed Nathalia, while Strathmerton has moved to third with another close win over fourth placed Cobram.
Barooga managed to chase down Nathalia’s score of 184 in the 44th over to take outright top spot on the ladder. Barooga won the toss and sent Nathalia in to bat at Nathalia on Saturday.
Nathalia’s Ash Quinn top scored with 51 runs in a total of 6/184 off their 45 overs.
Barooga’s Justin Maley was the best of the bowlers taking 2-22 off his nine overs.
Big-hitting Barooga opener Ben Mansell then set up the win with an innings of 82 runs which included seven fours and three sixes.
Brodie Ross was the best of the Nathalia bowlers, taking 2-26 from his five overs.
In the match between CYU and Katematite the toss was won by visiting side CYU.
They sent Katamatite in first. Andrew Erickson (29) and Tom Pendlebury (28 n.o.) were the best of the Katamatite batsmen in their total of 134 off 44.3 overs.
Sam Fitzpatrick was the best of the CYU bowlers taking 4-27 off nine overs.
CYU then chased the target down in the 29th over with the loss of only two wickets to receive one extra bonus point. Skipper Stuart Thomson topscored with 71 not out including nine fours and two sixes.
