Break-in tar­gets grog

Al­co­hol was stolen from Fin­ley Re­cre­ation Re­serve overnight on Fri­day.

Power to the build­ing was turned off and the rear door was forced open.

Once inside, the bar fridge door was re­moved and the al­co­hol taken.

The cash reg­is­ter was also forced open, but there was no cash inside to be stolen.


A 38 year-old man was charged with as­sault af­ter al­legedly push­ing a 36 year-old woman a num­ber of times in an in­ci­dent at a Ber­ri­gan home on Sun­day about 6pm.

The man, who had a lap­top in his hand, al­legedly ac­cused the woman of ly­ing.

Po­lice said the woman asked him to leave her home, but he re­fused.

He al­legedly pushed the woman a num­ber of times and smashed a phone against a wall to stop her from ring­ing po­lice.

Po­lice were even­tu­ally called to the scene, how­ever the man had left.

The man was lo­cated and ar­rested at an­other ad­dress a short time later.

He was con­veyed to Fin­ley Po­lice Sta­tion, where he was in­ter­viewed and charged with as­sault.
