Bob col­lects monthly medal

Fin­ley The J & M Doyle monthly medal was played on Sun­day.

Bob Ross carded 67 nett to claim A grade along with the medal and Cock of the Walk ti­tle, while Bob Makkinga carded 69 nett to win B grade.

New ar­rival in Fin­ley, Ian Armer, with a fine 74 off the stick took out the scratch medal.

He­len Was­tle had 68 nett to claim the ladies’ tro­phy and club brooch, as well as putting com­pe­ti­tion with 22 putts.

The NTP on the 18th was Paul Pin­nuck and balls went to Ray Healey (70), Mark O’Brien (71), Paul Pin­nuck (71), Joanne Dean (71), Rick Har­ris (73), Grant Shaw (73), Ian Armer (73), Julie O’Brien (75) and Linda Ren­dell (75).

In the men’s com­pe­ti­tion on Wed­nes­day, Matt Daniel blitzed the field with 41 stable­ford points to claim the voucher.

Grant Shaw was NTP on the 18th and balls went to Rodger Sut­ton (39) and Grant Shaw (35).

Barry Fa­hey carded 33.5 nett to win the Thurs­day af­ter­noon nine-hole comp with balls go­ing to An­drew Higgins (35), Martin Cruick­shank (35.5) and Ge­off Boscombe (35.5).

Fin­ley re­cently hosted the first round of the Fin­ley Newsagency Wil­son Cup, an an­nual mixed four­ball best ball event played be­tween the Fin­ley, Ber­ri­gan and Jer­ilderie clubs.

At the end of the day’s play Fin­ley was five points in front of Ber­ri­gan with Jer­ilderie one point fur­ther back in third place.

The next round of the Wil­son Cup will be played at Ber­ri­gan on Satur­day, July 18.

The Jer­ilderie pair­ing of Kath and Bill Wil­liams with 45 stable­ford points won the Daily Tro­phy with Joanne and Eric Dean (43) the run­ners-up.

The NTP on the 13th was Enid Bain and the 18th was Chick Bray­bon. Balls went to cou­ples who had 38 points or bet­ter.

The men’s Wed­nes­day com­pe­ti­tion tees off at noon to­day, while nine­hole comp con­tin­ues to­mor­row.

Stable­ford

be played on Satur­day and the Fin­ley Foot­ball Net­ball Club’s an­nual golf day is be­ing held on Sun­day.

Fin­ley Ladies Another wet day saw a very small field in women’s golf last Wed­nes­day.

The stable­ford event, spon­sored by Walsh Plumb­ing, was won by 17-hand­i­cap­per Enid Bain with 37 points.

Ball win­ner was Kim Lawlor with 34 points.

A re­minder that the Ladies’ Four­somes Cham­pi­onship is be­ing held on July 8 and will be played over 27 holes.

Tocumwal On Tues­day there was 26 teams of ladies play­ing four­somes stable­ford on the Cap­tain’s Course with the win­ning team be­ing Mary McMa­hon and Shirley De­sailly with 36 points. Run­ner­sup were Gayle Blakey and Joan Burns with 35. NTP: San­dra Wil­liams 2nd, Ch­eryl Hart 8th, Gayle Blakey 17th, Lois Bird 14th.

The men’s com­pe­ti­tion on Wed­nes­day was stable­ford on the Pres­i­dent’s Course.

Colin McNamara won A grade with a great score of 42 and run­nerup was Rob Ar­bon with 37.

B grade was won by Joshua Paul with 38 and run­ner-up was Ian Tay­lor with 37.

Craig Robinson from Waik­erie Golf Club was the C grade win­ner with 40, fol­lowed by Fin­ley’s Peter Watts on 36. NTP: Ed Scharkow 2nd, Ben Kerr 15th.

Satur­day saw 35 ladies and 42 men play­ing stable­ford on the Pres­i­dent’s Course with A grade for the ladies go­ing to Lindy Cooper on 38.

Jill Lover­sidge took out B grade with 31. NTP: Frances Wil­liams 2nd.

Men’s A grade went to Ed Scharkow with 36, fol­lowed by Brian Wil­son on 35.

B grade was won by Pat Boake with 37 on count­back from War­ren Con­sta­ble. NTP: Chris Tom­lin­son 15th.

Sun­day had 62 men play­ing par on the Cap­tain’s Course with Abra­ham Nimb from Koorin­gal win­ning A grade with +3.

Jer­ilderie’s Dar­ren Mitchell was run­ner up with +1.

B grade went to Fin­ley’s Stephen Con­rick on count­back from Richie Kliska, while C grade was won by Neville Finn on count­back from Graeme Sharp. NTP: Derek McMa­hon 17th.
