The Lower River and Tuppal roads out of Tocumwal will become safer following a funding announcement from the NSW Government.
Approximately $128,000 has been allocated out of the 2015/16 NSW Budget for the roads’ improvements.
There will be an upgrade of the eastern end of one of the concrete causeways on the Lower River Rd where there has been three accidents in the past five years.
Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli says the funding is a win for road users in the Tocumwal area and that planning work can now start.
‘‘The program will fund upgrades to (these roads) that will include localised widening of curves on bridge approaches and line marking improvements which is positive news for road users,’’ Mr Piccoli said.
‘‘Generally, projects approved under this program are lower cost improvements which can be delivered quickly to provide greater safety for all road users in local communities.
‘‘These important road safety projects will be delivered in partnership with local government.’’
The funding is part of the NSW Road Safety Strategy which aims to reduce the number and severity of crashes on NSW roads.
