Rain boost for winter cropping
Some timely rain across the weekend helped boost winter crops and pastures on farmland around the Southern Riverina.
Patchy showers that began on Thursday soon turned into steady rain that continued over the weekend to Monday.
During this time, about 10mm was recorded at Jerilderie while Elders Weather recorded 13.1mm for Tocumwal.
For Tocumwal, there was 2mm on Friday, 2.6mm on Saturday, 5mm on Sunday and 3.5mm on Monday. The wet weather lifted Tocumwal’s rainfall for the month to 14.1mm.
Finley farmer Jack Hawkins, whose property is north of Finley, recorded 10mm over the weekend.
Light showers are predicted to continue until Friday this week.
