Shire pools now open for summer season

Southern Riverina news - - NEWS -

Splash into summer in one of the Berrigan Shire pools, now open for the season.

Entry charges and season tickets at Tocumwal and Finley are unchanged from last year, and once again generous sponsorship means access to the Berrigan pool remains free.

The pool volunteer committees have put in a lot of effort at Berrigan, Finley and Tocumwal to be ready for the season.

Council spent $30,000 completely repainting the Tocumwal pool and resurfacing the surrounds — the biggest refurbishment at the pool since it was built 20 years ago.

Meanwhile, volunteers at Ber- rigan War Memorial Swimming Pool constructed a new shelter structure during winter.

Mayor Bernard Curtin thanked the committees for their work both over the winter and during the season.

‘‘Without the contribution of our volunteers, the council would be unable to provide such a high quality pool service in each of our towns,’’ he said.

All pool committees are seeking additional volunteers. Contact council on 5888 5100 for more information.

Pool opening times are available in the ‘recreation’ section of council’s website, www.berriganshire.nsw.gov.au.
