French pastry chef’s Finley slice delight
Finley Bakery and Patisserie’s signature vanilla slice has received a seal of approval from an expert French pastry chef.
Finley Bakery pastry chef Micka Littlejohn has spent months perfecting ingredients and mixes for the slice, which sells out.
French pastry chef Herve Boutin recently travelled to the local bakery and said the vanilla slice was among the best he’s tasted.
‘‘The Finley vanilla slice has a very nice, thin pastry, beautiful smooth custard and is very tasty,’’ Mr Boutin said after trying a sample.
Finley Bakery owner Andrew Richardson said the review from Mr Boutin was a great honour.
Mr Richardson thanked his staff for the effort that goes into their work.
‘‘All food is prepared at the bakery. The baking staff start work at 3am to ensure our customers are provided with fresh bread, pies, cakes and slices.’’
