Golfers were scrambling to be the first to tee off on Tocumwal Golf Club’s new 18th hole on the President’s course on Sunday.

However it was club professional Rodney Booth who was given the honours.

He was followed by the club’s 2016 ladies’ champion Bobette Wilkinson and men’s champion Caleb Bovalina.

The new par three was officially opened by ladies’ vice captain Sandra Williams, club president Chris O’Connell and club captain Michael Keen (pictured).

More than 100 people were in attendance, including club life members. Guests heard from club CEO Craig Smith and course architect Phil Ryan at the opening.

The new hole is the first stage of a bigger development at the facility since its merger with the Tocumwal Bowling Club. Future developments include the addition of bowls greens.
