Former Jerilderie Shire general manager Andrew Crakanthorp is returning to the region to join Murrumbidgee Council.
A merger of the former Murrumbidgee Shire and Jerilderie Shire councils, Mr Crakanthorp is the entity’s new deputy general manager.
He replaces former Murrumbidgee Shire general manager Phil Pinyon, who has taken up a role with Loddon Shire in Victoria.
Murrumbidgee Council interim general manager Craig Moffitt said he was pleased to secure the services of an experience Local Government practitioner.
‘‘With qualifications in local government, public policy, planning and management, Andrew Crakanthorp will bring a wealth of practical experience to Murrumbidgee Council, particularly in the areas of corporate services and planning,’’ Mr Moffitt said.
‘‘His primary focus will be guiding the implementation process for the newly created council and supporting the transition ahead of the September 2017 local government elections.’’
Mr Crakanthorp has spent much of his career working in regional and rural centres including Wagga Wagga and Griffith City councils, where he held roles as a director and assistant general manager.
He has previously held positions as a general manager at Jerilderie and Culcairn. He is now based at Darlington Point.
The council’s first public meeting will be held in Jerilderie tomorrow.
