Wild weather causes black-outs
Storm activity in the local area last Tuesday kept Essential Energy crews busy as they dealt with a number of faults in the electricity network caused by the wild weather.
Up to 1,300 Essential Energy customers in the Berrigan area were without power from 5.55pm when network protection equipment was operated to isolate supply to the area and ensure the safety of the electricity network and the community.
Crews responded to reports of fallen powerlines in Cobram St, Berrigan and on arrival identified a television aerial cable had come into contact with a service wire.
Field staff safely removed the cable and supply was restored to all customers by around 7pm.
In the Finley and Tocumwal area, about 1,750 customers were without power from about 8.20pm while crews carried out repairs to a damaged power pole in Finley. Supply was restored to all customers by 11.30pm.
Essential Energy crews also responded to a small number of isolated incidents in the area during the afternoon and evening.
