Toc. brigade wants two new firefighters
Tocumwal Rural Fire Service has two vacancies for new firefighters to join their team.
Group Captain Mark MacCullagh said they want to recruit, train up and teach two more firefighters to join the volunteer ranks.
‘‘Tocumwal has many residents who are capable of joining our team, we just need two more people to jump on the fire truck with us when we go and help out the community.’’
The Rural Fire Service is a volunteer organisation which provides protection to communities from the threat of fire.
The Tocumwal brigade attended around 20 call-outs last year and helped protect lives and property.
“All training and mateship will be provided free of charge,’’ Capt MacCullagh said.
‘‘We have a great bunch of people here at the Rural Fire Service and we want some more people to come and get involved.
“This is a great community here in Tocumwal, so if you’re new to town or want to try something new this is the perfect chance to meet people.
“Our goal is to get two more members this year.’’
If you are interested in joining the Tocumwal Rural Fire Service as a volunteer firefighter, or as a support member (that doesn’t necessarily attend fires) visit the NSW RFS website and click on ‘Join the RFS’ or alternatively contact the Southern Border Team office on (02) 6051 1511.
You can also call into the Tocumwal station in Wise Court if you see the doors open. Volunteers must be over 16.
