Popular local Bowlo
Finley Bowling Club, better known as the ‘Bowlo’, is an iconic community venue that has been operating for over 66 years.
The Bowlo contests the Murray Valley Bowls Association and was declared the Berrigan Shire Hospitality and Tourism Business of the Year in 2013.
The club has over 500 members, comprised of 60 bowlers and 467 social members, but manager Fred Braybon encourages new members to join so the club can continue to flourish.
‘‘We want to maintain our active support of community groups,’’ he said.
‘‘The Bowlo is well known for its enthusiastic support of various local organisations, and that’s the way we would like it to stay.’’
Finley Bowling Club boasts top class bowling greens that are widely regarded as being of ‘championship’ quality.
Aside from hosting talented local and regional bowlers throughout competition season, the club also provides bowling equipment for any social member who wants to come down for a roll.
In the warmer seasons the Bowlo runs ‘Twilight Bowls’ competitions, and staff encourage anyone interested to keep an eye on the club’s Facebook page for dates.
The clubhouse includes wheelchair access and is regularly enjoyed by club and community members.
Some of the clubhouse facilities include a fully-stocked club and worker’s bar; meeting and function rooms available for hire; catering services available via booking; outdoor undercover BBQ area; free use of bowls equipment; and courtesy bus available on Friday nights and for special occasions.
