Mem­ber for Al­bury Greg Aplin has called on lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties to nom­i­nate fe­male coun­cil­lors and coun­cil staff for the 2017 Min­is­ters Awards for Women in Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment.

“Across this elec­torate there are many tal­ented and in­spir­ing women who ev­ery day make a gen­uine dif­fer­ence to our lo­cal com­mu­ni­ties,” Mr Aplin said.

“I would en­cour­age peo­ple to nom­i­nate a fe­male coun­cil­lor or coun­cil staff mem­ber who has made an out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion and de­serves to be recog­nised for their com­mit­ment to the com­mu­ni­ties in which we live.”

Awards are given in four cete­gories — Elected Rep­re­sen­ta­tive, Se­nior Staff Mem­ber, Non-Se­nior Staff Mem­ber, and Women in Non-Tra­di­tional Roles.

The awards will be pre­sented at a func­tion to cel­e­brate In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day at NSW Par­lia­ment House on March 7.
