A dog believed to have been taken from a Finley yard has been mysteriously returned to her owner sporting a new haircut and a shampooed coat.

Pixie, a white fluffy Maltese cross, went missing from owner Kaye Cooper’s property during the early hours of Wednesday, November 23.

Kaye, who is in her 80s, said she believes her pet was taken by someone.

Kaye said a well-secured piece of mesh — designed to keep Pixie inside the yard — was damaged enough so a person could have grabbed her through the fence.

‘‘I did hear a car pull up during the night she went missing, however it was strange she didn’t bark,’’ she said.

‘‘Living on my own, I didn’t think to get up and wander outside as it was about 2am. Perhaps it was someone who knew Pixie, it’s bizarre.’’

Kaye said she was left distraught for the four days Pixie was missing, adding she’s glad she’s back. ‘‘I was lost,’’ she said. ‘‘I drove around in my gopher looking for her, and my daughters Judy and Tanya were also looking for her.

‘‘Tanya decided to share that she was lost on Facebook, which seemed to work. On the Saturday, I woke up from a nap and as I was making a cup of tea I saw her little face and I was stunned. I thought, ‘God, where did you come from?’.

‘‘She was clipped and shampooed with quite a nice smelling one . . . I’d actually like to know what brand it is!’’
