Strong week for Berrigan’s pennant teams
Berrigan This past week was a good one for the club with the ladies winning on Friday by 16 shots, 14-2, over Numurkah Golf, followed by the men with a 38-shot win over Barooga 3.
Rick Bradbury’s was nine behind going into the last three ends and managed to win by 2, while Mark Rooney’s rink won by 13 and Barry Hutchinson had a 23-shot win.
Sunday saw the first and second round of the club singles.
Nev Burke def. Davy Fox in round one while the second round winners saw Rob Beard def. Lois Commins, Paul Glanville def. Burke, Mark Rooney def. Matt Hanson, and Bradbury def. Hutchinson after 32 ends of tight bowling.
The ladies are down to Rachel Head to play Faye Gibbs with the winner to play Val Chisolm in the final.
Tocumwal Friday Pennant Division One had a loss but both Division Two teams were victorious.
On Friday Div. One play Cobram away, Div Two team two play Picola at home and team three play Berrigan at home.
Next Wednesday is the club’s Christmas break up with a fun game, shared lunch and Kris Kringle up to value of $10. A lovely hamper has been put together for a raffle with more donations appreciated.
Andrea Brown and Kay Beer have progressed to Regional Pairs and Julie O’Connor to the finals of Novice Singles.
Saturday Pennant wasn’t too good.
This week Div. One travel to play Numurkah Golf, Div Three team two play Jerilderie in Jerilderie and Div Three team three play Berrigan at home.
Barefoot Bowls play their last game this year on December 12 and resume on Jan. 9. Please let Elaine know if you are not available. Finding your own substitute would be helpful.
Finley RS Ladies handicap singles was played last week. Results: Di Retallick def Yvonne Thomas, Noela Thomas def Yvonne Scorgie, Karen Peacock def Joyce Thomas, Iris Reynolds def Ofelia Cochrane.
In the state mixed pairs, Di Retallick and Rod Brown had good wins and hope to continue their form when they play today.
On Sunday a grudge match was played between Teddy Maher and Jason Savage. Spectators enjoyed watching the contest as Teddy won 21-11.
Friday and Saturday Division Three pennant teams were both defeated while Division One had a win at Numurkah 91-84 picking up 14 points.
Friday pennant is at home to Numurkah.

Finley BC Friday pennant saw all three rinks win and the good form continued on Saturday with both divisions winning their games.

On Sunday Finley hosted the Murray Division of the State Pairs Championship. This Sunday the semis will be played at the same venue at 9.30.
This week the final of the ladies pairs will be played between Nan Smith and Betty Robinson v H Tabe and S Walsh.
