Sibraa to coach fourths
Experienced junior footy mentor Jim ‘Stumpy’ Sibraa has been appointed as the Blighty fourths coach for the 2017 Picola League season.
Sibraa has coached over a long period of time, leading the Berrigan, Finley and Blighty thirds at different stages in his career.
He also coached the Blighty seconds in the early 1990s, with the club winning the flag in 1992.
‘‘Blighty’s always been a club I’ve loved,’’ Sibraa said.
‘‘Blighty has good kids and I’m glad I can play a role in their footy life. I like seeing the kids develop their game. I want to be able to help them to be not only better players but better people.
‘‘My ambition is to look after these young blokes and to also teach them to be respectful and disciplined.’’
Sibraa will be working closely with thirds coach and senior player Kyel Bain on junior development, which is something he is ‘‘looking forward to’’.
‘‘Kyel was actually the mascot for the ‘92 premiership reserves team so I’ve known him for a long time,’’ he said.
