Berrigan footy reports:

Southern Riverina news - - SPORT -

The Berrigan reserves continued their winning form on Saturday and are now sitting a game clear in fifth position on the PDFL north-west ladder.

The team put together a great threequarter effort to keep Tocumwal to one goal up until the final quarter.

Toc. kicked four straight goals in the last quarter with the Saints taking the foot off the pedal but managing to hold on for the win by 35 points.

Some great individual efforts from Adam Fox and Crag Glanvill who continue their consistent form. Ged Towler impressed up forward with four goals and Matt Cameron contributed well through the middle and half back line.

Well done also to Joel Harrison, one of our

MFL

most committed footballers, who had a great game against the Bloods.

It was an all important match for Tocumwal and Berrigan in the thirds, as the winner would stay in the top five.

It was a close contest in the first half with Mason Peters working tirelessly in the back line alongside Riley Dempster and the young Saints were able to make the most of opportunities driving the ball forward.

There were plenty of goalkickers — Brad Loats, Ben Fox, Fraser Haintz, Tom Whelan, Colby Hellyer-Maude and Mani Tanner — and the Saints were up 6.2 to 3.5 at the main break.

Toc. came out stronger in the third quarter and Berrigan had to work hard to stay in touch. In the fourth term Berrigan was a point down and struggled to keep up, only scoring a point and in the end losing by 27 points.

The Berrigan fourths took on ladder leader Tocumwal and again gave everything they have.

The back line led by Ben Ackerly and Max Cameron worked hard along with John O’Neill.

It was always going to be a hard match against a taller and stronger side.

Berrigan’s awards went to Jebediah MeyerVale who played his best game for the year, Jim Curtin, Ben Ackerly, John O’Neill, Caleb Thornton and Aiden Fennell.
