Sun shines on another successful Swap Meet
The eighth annual Tocumwal Winter Swap Meet and Show ‘n’ Shine was held on Sunday, with ‘rev-heads’ coming from far and wide to attend the event.
Presented by Mild 2 Wild Rod and Custom, the popular event showcased more than 115 cars, as well as a selection of motorcycles and trucks.
Held at the Tocumwal Recreation Reserve, event coordinator Peter Ryan said it was a huge success.
‘‘A frosty start greeted the earlybirds, however the fine weather did shine through to make for a fantastic event.
‘‘We had about 60 swap meet sites and people came from Wallan to the north and Hay to the south, and we also had a number of swap meet vendors from Melbourne and Bendigo,’’ he said.
The winners of the people’s choice prizes were Warwick Quigley with his SS 1968 Camaro, Barry Pignolet with his 1956 Dodge, Alwyn Pridham with his 1956 Ford Victoria, Stewart Elliot with his Ford Fairmont Ghia, and Matt Andrews with his XY Falcon.
The winners in the bike category were Ken Phillips with his Norton motorcycle sidecar, Steve Dunn with his 2017 Harley Davidson Deluxe and Chris Bugden’s 2009 Big Dog Wolf.
John Laffen took out the truck category with his B 61 Mack truck.
Tocumwal Rural Fire Service members also attended the event, while the local Rotary Club had the barbecue flaming with bacon and egg rolls.
‘‘The organisers were well pleased and we look forward to next year’s event,’’ Mr Ryan said.
‘‘We’d like to all thank those people who helped make it such a success.’’
