The Saints trav­elled to Pi­cola on what was a very frosty morn­ing and were right in the game from the first bounce with James Curtin kick­ing the vis­i­tors’ first goal.

In the sec­ond quar­ter Tyson SharpShor­ney was able to score and Ber­ri­gan were three points down at half time.

James Curtin kicked an­other goal in the third and there was just one point the dif­fer­ence at three quar­ter time.

The fourth quar­ter the Saints strug­gled to get the ball out of their back­line and Pi­cola were able to run away with the four points.

A great ef­fort by all of the team with Max Cameron a force to be reck­oned with in the back­line along with Ai­den Fen­nell, John O’Neill and Ben Ack­erly.

Ber­ri­gan’s thirds were more un­der­manned than usual on Satur­day and re­lied on the fourths to step up and man the for­ward line.

Pi­cola were dom­i­nant with the Saints un­able to hit the score­board in a lop­sided af­fair.

Ber­ri­gan’s bet­ter play­ers on the day were Coleby Hel­lyer-Maud, Tom Whe­lan, Rory Thorn­ton, Ma­son Peters, Ri­ley Demp­ster and Josh McQual­ter. (46) to

The twos went into Satur­day’s match miss­ing nine of their reg­u­lar play­ers and man­aged to come away with an eight point win against the top side.

The last time the two teams met in round three, Pi­cola won the game by well over 100 points, so it was a mas­sive up­set for the Saints.

In the low scor­ing con­test, Ber­ri­gan con­cen­trated on man on man de­fence and broke through Pi­cola’s game plan.

Af­ter a week off, James Ware was back dom­i­nat­ing in the back­line and was well as­sisted by Steve Mor­gan and Adam Fox to re­strict Pi­cola to only three goals for the four quar­ters.

Jamie Bond and Craig Glanvill con­tin­ued their im­pres­sive sea­sons with an­other great ef­fort from them both.

Matt Cameron ran all day and was one of only three goal scor­ers, with Ged Towler and Cody Hea­zle­wood chip­ping in with one each.
