Cat­tle sale re­port:

Num­bers in­creased with more cows penned at last Wed­nes­day’s sale — up by 70 to 430 penned in to­tal.

There was a mix of ev­ery­thing, from lines of young store cat­tle to sup­ple­men­tary fed veal­ers and year­lings.

Prices for the plainer bred or un­fin­ished stock came back, while the best of the young cat­tle were fully firm to slightly dearer in some places.

Cow prices re­mained firm on a fort­night ago.

The B and C mus­cled veal­ers ranged from 315c to 396c to av­er­age 365c/kg.

The medium and heavy year­ling steers made from 305c to 364c, while the C mus­cled year­ling heifer por­tion ranged from 290c to 357c, with the C3’s av­er­ag­ing 339c/kg. Lo­cal feed­lot­ters still re­mained ac­tive. Not many heavy bul­locks were penned and prices re­mained sim­i­lar to last sale.

The 500-600kg steers made to 312c and the 600kg plus bul­locks reached 302c/kg.

The heavy beef cows made from 215c to 254c and the dairy por­tion made from 218c to 225c/kg.
