Birth­day wishes for Ber­ri­gan cen­te­nar­ian

Birth­day wishes are ex­tended to Mar­jorie Ryan who turned 100 on Mon­day.

Mar­jorie is a res­i­dent at the Ber­ri­gan Multi Pur­pose Ser­vice, and her daugh­ter Mar­illa said it’s a won­der­ful achieve­ment to reach 100 in this day and age.

Mar­jorie has seven chil­dren, 19 grand­chil­dren and 20 great grand­chil­dren.

The com­mu­nity wishes Mar­jorie a big happy birth­day.

The Ber­ri­gan Cricket Club will be hold­ing a spe­cial An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing on Wed­nes­day, July 28 at the Fed­eral Ho­tel at 7.30pm.

Ev­ery­one is wel­come and sup­port is needed if peo­ple want the club to con­tinue.

All po­si­tions are open and the club is fi­nan­cial.

A meet­ing was held on July 6 how­ever no po­si­tions were filled on the com­mit­tee.

The club has strong ju­nior num­bers and it would be great to see as many par­ents, sup­port­ers and play­ers from all grades at the meet­ing.

The RSL Sub-branch will hold a street stall to­mor­row and raf­fle a load of wood. They will also be hav­ing a sausage siz­zle.

All wel­come to come down to IGA, buy a ticket and have a sausage and a chat.

As part of the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf and Bowl­ing Club de-amal­ga­ma­tion process, the com­mu­nity are en­cour­aged to sign up as a so­cial mem­ber for $10.

As part of the new en­tity, Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf and Bowl­ing Club, a min­i­mum of 100 new mem­bers is needed for a meet­ing to be held in Au­gust to vote to dea­mal­ga­mate with Ba­rooga Spor­ties.

This Satur­day the Ber­ri­gan Saints take on Deni Rovers at Ber­ri­gan.

It will be a big game for the se­niors as fi­nals are ap­proach­ing and the boys are just hang­ing on to fifth spot with Deni Rovers right on their heels.

Af­ter the game the com­mit­tee will hold a Goods and Ser­vices night. A meal will be pro­vided, with drinks avail­able at bar prices. All wel­come for a great night out.

The Bowl­ing Club will be hav­ing a so­cial day with Rand Bowls Club on Sun­day, Au­gust 20.

A bus is be­ing or­gan­ised and the first 30 peo­ple to write their names on the list at the club will have a seat.

St Columba’s School will be run­ning its very pop­u­lar ‘Play to Learn’ pro­gram for all stu­dents start­ing kinder­garten in 2018.

All chil­dren in the Ber­ri­gan and sur­round­ing ar­eas are wel­come to at­tend.

The pro­gram will be held every Wed­nes­day dur­ing terms three and four, be­gin­ning Wed­nes­day, July 26 from 10.30am to 2pm. For more in­for­ma­tion con­tact Ar­lena Pyle on 5885 2428.

St Columba’s Church is cel­e­brat­ing its 50th year and this will be com­mem­o­rated with mass on Fri­day at 9.30am. All wel­come to at­tend.

On Sun­day, mass will be held at 10.30am with the chil­dren lead­ing the ser­vice. Af­ter mass, soup and bread will be served in the Na­gle Cen­tre. All wel­come.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Joyce Whit­ney who cel­e­brated a spe­cial birth­day with fam­ily and friends yes­ter­day. Her fam­ily trav­elled from near and far to be with her on her 90th birth­day.
