Tocumwal footy:

Southern Riverina news - - LOCAL CLASSIES -

Under 14s: The Tocumwal boys were back to their best against Picola United — disciplined, applying consistent pressure and using the ball well.

Zander Griffin, Bailey Mason and Tom Barker dominated the stoppages.

Chase Hardwidge, Hayden Davis and Connor Crowley read the play beautifully and Blair Eddy had a great game for his 50th match.

Under 17s: Tocumwal fell just one point short of upsetting a strong Picola side on Saturday

Dylan Maxwell, Mitchell Reilly (five goals), Jesse Colston and Reilly Rennick were better players for the day.

The Bloods sit just one win outside of the top five following the heartbreaking loss.

Reserves: The first quarter again proved to be Tocumwal’s worst for the game, leading to a 98 point loss.

Picola managed to capitalise on all their first quarter opportunities to boot six goals straight to take a six goal lead into the first break.

The Bloods to their credit hit back hard with some wonderful tackling and kept the ladder leaders to one second quarter goal.

The second half was hotly contested footy with the Blues having to battle hard for any scoring opportunities.

But the top team were too good for a hard working Bloods outfit.

Tocumwal’s best were Paul Quick, Ben and Corey Herezo, Charlie Kelly, Tim Brunskill and Glyn Matters.
