Redeyes beat Dees to book finals spot
Blighty’s A grade made it six wins in a row, defeating Jerilderie 69 to 34 at Blighty Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The win secured a Picola League finals appearance for the Redeyes, who are third on the ladder.
Awards went to shooter Emily White, defender Nat Tremble and midcourter Sophie Lostroh.
Blighty had more success in B grade, with a 43 to 38 win over the Demons.
The win saw the fourth placed Redeyes bridge a one game gap between them and fifth placed Strathmerton.
Awards went to shooters Karla Strongman and Shania Bentley.
In C grade it was Jerilderie who stood tall, the Redeyes going down 49 to 34.
The Redeyes couldn’t repeat their round five effort, with the Demons reversing their fortunes in dominant fashion.
Awards went to defender Kristeen Culton, midcourter Caitlin Salter and all-rounder Emma Barker.
Blighty had no answer for an undefeated Jerilderie side in the Under 17s, going down 74 to 13.
The loss means that all hopes for a late charge at finals is lost with the Redeyes sitting in eighth spot on the ladder.
In the U-13s, Blighty bounced back from a shock loss to record a 22-8 win over Jerilderie.
The slip-up against Berrigan last week was Blighty’s only loss for the season, with the Redeyes one win clear on top of the ladder.
