Red Cross fashion show benefits Berrigan Hospital
The annual Berrigan Red Cross Fashion Extravaganza has seen $2000 donated to the Berrigan United Hospital Auxiliary to improve facilities for patients at Berrigan Hospital.
The proceeds from the December fashion show will help the UHA reach its $8000 fundraising goal earlier than expected.
UHA secretary Marnie Dalgliesh said for that reason, the UHA was ‘‘delighted’’ to receive the donation.
‘‘This saves a lot a fundraising on our behalf and it will benefit all patients who visit the hospital,’’ she said.
‘‘We need to raise $8000 for numerous items including six single mattresses, one king single mattress and bed base and a long day chair, so to receive over $2000 has gone a long way.
‘‘We want to say a big thanks to anyone who spent money at the extravaganza or our raffles.’’
Berrigan Red Cross treasurer Lyndall Horne said donating to the UHA was about continuing the good relationship between health services in Berrigan and the Berrigan Red Cross.
‘‘Over the 10 years we’ve been running the Fashion Extravaganza, we’ve always targeted donating to the health care facilities of Berrigan.
‘‘We raised more than $8000 on the night, and the rest of the money will be donated to the Australian Red Cross.
‘‘The UHA do wonderful things for the Berrigan community and they’re very worthy recipients.’’
The next major fundraiser for the UHA will be the Berrigan Rose Show, with various street stalls and sausage sizzles also planned throughout the year.
