Au­thor to speak at Women’s Day event

Ber­ri­gan Shire Li­brary Ser­vice will be host­ing the an­nual In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day event to be held on Thurs­day, March 8 at the Ber­ri­gan Sports Ground.

Karen Turner, an au­thor of his­tor­i­cal dra­mas, will be the guest speaker.

Lunch will pro­vided by Pres­tige Cater­ing.

Book­ings are es­sen­tial. Please call into the li­brary to book.

This Satur­day night Michaela Jenke will be per­form­ing at the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowl­ing Club from 7.30pm.

Michaela is a ‘coun­try rock-alt coun­try’ singer and is tour­ing and pro­mot­ing her new CD, Di­a­monds Outta Dirt.

Come along for a great night.

To­mor­row night the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowl­ing Club’s Su­per Draw is at $17,000.

That is a great rea­son to head to the club this Thurs­day.

You must be a so­cial mem­ber of the club and be present on the night of the draw be­tween 7pm and 9pm to win.

There are 14 clubs in the draw, which takes place in Yanco, and the club name is drawn first, then a mem­ber num­ber from the club.

There has been great sup­port on the night, and you never know, you just might walk away with $17,000 in your hand.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Alan Lawrence on the achieve­ment of 45 years em­ploy­ment with the Ber­ri­gan Shire Coun­cil.

As a young man, turn­ing 18 the fol­low­ing month, Alan be­gan his first day at the shire on Fe­bru­ary 13, 1973.

Many a wheel has turned in the past 45 years. Well done, Stump!

St Columba’s School has had a great start to the year, wel­com­ing a lot of new faces for 2018.

The stu­dents have set­tled in well and are en­joy­ing the in­ten­sive swim­ming pro­gram in the lead up to the first ma­jor event on the cal­en­dar, the Twi­light Swim­ming Car­ni­val.

The car­ni­val will be held from 6.30pm this Fri­day at the Ber­ri­gan Pool, and the school wel­comes all fam­ily and friends to at­tend and cheer on the chil­dren.

A bar­be­cue tea will be avail­able for a small cost.

If you are an older per­son look­ing for some light ex­er­cise to keep you fit, come to the Madill Cen­tre ev­ery Mon­day and Wed­nes­day from 10.15am to 10.45am.

Ex­er­cises are done sit­ting on a chair so they are not too stren­u­ous, and what’s more, they are free.

The next meet­ing of the BDDA is Wed­nes­day, Fe­bru­ary 28 at the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowl­ing Club.
