The Ber­ri­gan Shire Li­brary ladies are very ex­cited to be host­ing a spe­cial guest speaker, Karen Turner, to celebrate In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day on Thurs­day, March 8.

Karen is an award win­ning au­thor of his­tor­i­cal fic­tion and has an amaz­ing story to tell.

RSVP is March 4, and cost of the lun­cheon and en­ter­tain­ment is $30 per head. The event starts at noon.

Ama­roo Aged Care Hos­tel Aux­il­iary will be hold­ing an Au­tumn Gar­den Walk on April 7.

Start­ing from Tom and Heather Pyle’s res­i­dence at 10am, par­tic­i­pants will then walk or drive to Alan and Jude Lawrence’s ‘Ban­tam Park’.

Both gar­dens are a must see.

From there it’s over to the Tank Pad­dock, where you will be given a guided tour of what the Ber­ri­gan Con­ser­va­tion and Ber­ri­gan Tidy Towns Com­mit­tee are striv­ing to achieve.

A de­li­cious fin­ger food lunch will be served at the pad­dock.

If you are an older per­son look­ing for some light ex­er­cise to keep you fit, come to the Madill Cen­tre ev­ery Mon­day and Wed­nes­day from 10.15am to 10.45am.

Ex­er­cises are done sit­ting on a chair so they are not too stren­u­ous, and what’s more, they are free.

The next meet­ing of the Ber­ri­gan and Dis­trict De­vel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion is next Wed­nes­day at the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowl­ing Club.

The BDDA is work­ing with the Finley Cham­ber in or­gan­is­ing a Mon­ster Garage Sale on the week­end of April 14 and 15.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Mia Cameron on rep­re­sent­ing Finley Lit­tle Ath­let­ics Club in Wol­lon­gong at re­gional level last week­end.

Mia joined the club in Au­gust and did a mighty job com­pet­ing in dis­cus with a PB and the girls’ 70 me­tre sprint, 100 me­tre sprint and 60 me­tre hur­dles.

Also com­pet­ing at re­gion­als was Char­lie Mag­ill. Char­lie came third in the 800 me­tre, fourth in the 200 me­tre and 400 me­tre races and fifth in the 60 me­tre hur­dles.

Well done to Mia and Char­lie on a fan­tas­tic achieve­ment.
