Ro­tary Bowls Day on today

Finley Ro­tary Club’s big­gest an­nual fundraiser will take place today at the Finley Bowl­ing Club.

Today will mark the 30th an­niver­sary of the El­lis Thorn­ton Me­mo­rial Ro­tary Bowls Day, and will see more than 24 teams of four play­ers from across the South­ern Rive­rina take part on the lo­cal greens.

Finley Ro­tary pres­i­dent Bert Wulz is en­cour­ag­ing peo­ple to get along and sup­port the day so it can con­tinue to sup­port other lo­cal com­mu­nity groups.

‘‘We’ve made ma­jor con­tri­bu­tions to the schools and bought med­i­cal sup­plies for the Finley High School Ti­mor Leste Im­mer­sion Pro­gram stu­dents for them to do­nate when they travel there in April,’’ Mr Wulz said.

‘‘We’re look­ing at ways to do­nate to the Finley Com­mu­nity Gym, men­tal health groups, Finley Can­cer Sup­port Group, the Scouts and Finley Show­ground Com­mit­tee.

‘‘We have many up­com­ing projects in­clud­ing a gov­ern­ment grant for new out­door equip­ment to be in­stalled at Finley Lake.’’
