Toc. pair out of state finals
Tocumwal Andrea Brown and Chris Philpot represented the club in the State Mixed Pairs on Sunday at Stanhope.
They won their first match in the morning and went on to play John Stokes and Mia Nowosad, the Goulburn Valley representatives in the afternoon.
After a nail biting 15-15 going into the 18th end, they just missed out by one shot.
Congratulations to the pair for a great campaign for our club and district.
The Ladies Triples were finalised last Monday with a win to Effie Eaton, Cheryl Townsing and Pat Morrison over Pam van Huizen, Liz Anderson and Judy Harvie.
With one more week to play our pennant teams are having mixed luck. Results from this weekend are as follows:
Friday Division One - Tocumwal Golf 1 defeated Barooga Sports 1, 77-64. Tocumwal Golf 1 are first on ladder.
Friday Division Two - Tocumwal Golf 2 defeated Numurkah Golf 2, 64-62; Tocumwal Golf 3 were defeated by Cobram 2 72-54. Tocumwal Golf 2 and Tocumwal Golf 3 sit second and fifth on the ladder respectively.
Saturday Division One - Tocumwal Golf 1 defeated Numurkah 1, 91-90. Tocumwal Golf 1 are seventh on ladder.
Saturday Division Three - Tocumwal Golf 2 defeated Barooga Sports, 94-53; Tocumwal Golf 3 were defeated by Jerilderie 97-55. Tocumwal Golf 2 and Tocumwal Golf 3 sit second and eighth on the ladder respectively.
Saturday Division Four - Tocumwal Golf 4 had a forfeit from Strathmerton. Tocumwal Golf 4 sit eighth on the ladder.

Men’s 21-Up is progressing with Sunday's winner Col Farrer through to the next round.

Now the weather is cooling down a little we can all look forward to some wonderful autumn bowling.
Berrigan Tough going for our ladies midweek pennant going down to Numurkah in Numurkah 84-56.
Berrigan lost on all three rinks with Elaine Hawkins’ rink downed 20-17, Glenys McKay’s side beaten 28-21 and Nan Dart’s team beaten 36-18.
The Saturday pennant Division Four team had the bye and Division Two were home to Nathalia and were defeated on all rinks 125-67.
Mick Bush’s side was narrowly defeated 24-19, while Graeme Clements (33-13), Rick Bradbury (36-22) and Barry Hutchinson’s (32-13) teams were soundly beaten.
Next week all teams are at home for the last round with our ladies playing Finley RSC, Division Two playing Numurkah Two and Division Four playing Numurkah Three.
Our ladies club champion Glenys McKay will be playing the Region Final at Shepparton Park on Sunday.
McKay has a bye in the morning game and will play the winner from Central and Goulburn Valley after lunch.
Early reminder we will be holding the Garry McLennan Men’s Three Bowl Triples on Saturday, April 21.
Finley The pennant bowls competition has now only one more round before the finals begin.
Cobram was too strong for Finley in round 13 last Friday, 64-84, with Finley downed on all rinks.
Despite the loss Finley retained fourth spot on the ladder, with a 13 point gap between them and fifth placed Barooga Sports 1.
Ladder leader Tocumwal will travel to Finley this Friday for the final round.
In the weekend competition, Division Three continued on its winning way when it defeated Cobram 85-58, with all teams winning.
Division Four Team 2 suffered a defeat by Katandra, 31-52, while Team 3 had a close game at Cobram before going down by one shot, 38-39.
For round 14, the teams chosen to represent the club are as follows:
Division Three - Finley host Tocumwal: B Smith (s), S Johnson, H Tabe, R Koschel; G Close (s), T Miles, B Robinson, B Anderson; A Haines (s), B Mison, N Smith, J Montgomery.
Div Four - Team 2 will travel to Numurkah with transport leaving at noon: R Wood (s), A Cowan, D Mulroney, B Wike; N Barnes (s), T Hansford, S Montgomery, H Taylor.
Team 3 has a bye but hold second spot on the ladder.
The C grade championship will be played on Friday evening at 5pm between president Lawrie Walsh and Alan Cowan.
In earlier rounds Walsh defeated Daryl Mulroney and Cowan defeated Karl Bergmans.
Both games were keenly contested with slender margins at the end.
Entries are now being taken for the Veteran Singles Championship, for those bowlers over 70 years of age. The list is on display.
The Easter program is available. Play will be Open Pairs on Good Friday and then Open Triples on Easter Monday.

Four generations of the family have been Bowling Club players as well as being involved with the administration of the club.
The Ellis Thornton Memorial Rotary Bowls contest is in motion today.
It has attracted teams from neighbouring clubs which is appreciated and so fitting for this special occasion.
Interested people are welcome to come and enjoy afternoon tea after the bowls.
