Five Finley Wildcats players are in the mix to represent the Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup Under 18 Girls’ side as the squad prepares for their round one clash against Calder Cannons in Yarrawonga on Sunday.

Eloise Ashley-Cooper, Elle Brooks, Hayley Doohan, Holly Robinson and Kayla Smith were all selected for the final 45 player Bushrangers squad.

The first round clash against the Cannons will be played at JC Lowe Oval, with the Bushrangers’ talent coordinator Briana Cossar saying the team will be selected after training tonight.

‘‘All five of the Finley girls are certainly in the mix,’’ she said.

‘‘The whole squad has been training hard though so it will make selection difficult.’’

Cossar also said the selection process for the final squad was a rigorous one.

‘‘More than 70 young females from across the region participated in a high level football training program,’’ she said.

‘‘This has included intra club games and athletic testing throughout the program to ensure players have the football and athletic ability to perform at TAC Cup level.’’

Bushrangers coach Sam Ahmet highlighted the high quality of skill on display.

‘‘It was a very tough selection process and credit to all the girls’ junior football clubs, their coaches and volunteers for developing their football skills. Each of these players are well prepared for the upcoming season.’’
