Finley BC In the fi­nal round of mid­week pen­nant Finley went down to Tocumwal 64-59 in a tight bat­tle, de­spite win­ning two out of the three rinks.

The two rink wins were enough to see Finley hold on to fourth place on the lad­der how­ever.

Finley will com­pete in the elim­i­na­tion fi­nal against Nu­murkah Golf at Finley RS club on Fri­day.

Se­lected teams for clash are as fol­lows: L Bergmans (s), H Tabe, S Walsh, M Koschel; N Smith (s), A Haines, S Mont­gomery, B Boyd; T Miles (s), D McKel­lar, N Wood, B Robin­son. Good luck to the team.

On Satur­day, Finley’s lad­der lead­ing Di­vi­sion Three side was de­feated by Tocumwal by nine shots, 68/77.

Finley had just one win­ning team, with Ash­leigh Haines win­ning 30-20.

With a healthy lead on the lad­der, the side still fin­ished the sea­son as mi­nor premiers and will en­ter fi­nals with a dou­ble chance.

Di­vi­sion Four team three had a three shot vic­tory over Nu­murkah, 44-41 with both teams win­ning nar­rowly.

Team three fin­ished in fourth spot on the lad­der and will play in an elim­i­na­tion fi­nal this week­end.

The teams for the first fi­nal are not avail­able, as yet.

Last Wed­nes­day the Finley Bowl­ing Club hosted the 30th an­nual El­lis Thorn­ton Me­mo­rial Ro­tary Bowls event.

Win­ners from the day was the team of Tocumwal bowlers Ch­eryl Towns­ing, Effie Ea­ton and and Mike Henshaw and Finley RS bowler Jim Towns­ing.

The C grade fi­nal has been won by Lawrie Walsh when he de­feated Alan Cowan, 25-20, in a good game of draw bowl­ing.

There will be an op­por­tu­nity for all play­ers to prac­tice on Thurs­day, dfp, start­ing at 1.30pm.

Play­ers are ad­vised to en­sure their bowls stick­ers are un­bro­ken, clear and leg­i­ble or else re­place them.

Sun­day morn­ing bowls win­ners were Ge­off Trevor­row and Marie Koschel.

Pre­vi­ous win­ners were Billy Smith Pent­land.

Heather has now com­pleted her um­pire reac­cred­i­ta­tion ex­am­i­na­tion suc­cess­fully. She is busy ob­tain­ing en­tries for the Vet­eran Sin­gles, Men's 100 up Pairs, dfp, and the Mixed Pairs cham­pi­onships. Lists are on dis­play, please en­ter now.

A new caterer has been ap­pointed for the club. Ca­ter­ing is for lunch and din­ner on most days as well as a se­niors lunch deal on a Tues­day. Book­ings for any meals can be made di­rect to the club, 5883 1324.

Berri­gan Berri­gan’s Di­vi­sion Two side had a nail bit­ing fin­ish, get­ting up on the last end to win 90-89 over Nu­murkah to book their spot in fi­nals on Satur­day.

The two sides shared two rink wins each with Mark Rooney (21-14) and Rick Bradbury (27-17) vic­to­ri­ous, while Mick Bush (19-25) and Graeme Cle­ment (23-33) were de­feated.

Berri­gan will face Co­bram at Nu­murkah Golf in an elim­i­na­tion fi­nal this Satur­day.

Di­vi­sion Four had Les Dart’s rink win 20-12 but with Bill Daly’s rink go­ing down 9-27, it was a vis­it­ing Ba­rooga side vic­to­ri­ous 39-29 over­all.

In ladies mid­week pen­nant, Berri­gan were de­feated by Finley RS by 38 shots, bring­ing their sea­son to an end.

Glenys McKay trav­elled to Shep­par­ton Park to play in the fi­nal of the re­gion Cham­pion of Cham­pi­ons and played Goul­burn Val­ley Bowls Di­vi­sion cham­pion Josie Michielin, who de­feated Sharon Hall in the semi fi­nal. and Ron

Josie proved to be the bet­ter bowler on the day to de­feat Glenys but the Berri­gan Club were very proud of her ef­forts rep­re­sent­ing the MBD and our club.

Don’t for­get the Joan Davis In­vi­ta­tion Fours will be played on Thurs­day, March 22.

Three games of 10 ends start­ing at 10 am so a beau­ti­ful day is as­sured. En­tries to Glenys.

Tocumwal This week saw the fi­nal of the Men’s 21 with Chris Philpot pre­vail­ing against Col Far­rer.

Philpot also trav­elled to Shep­par­ton on Sun­day to play in the group fi­nal of the State Men’s Sin­gles.

Un­for­tu­nately he lost his morn­ing match and the chance to play in the fi­nals in Bendigo next month. He’ll be dis­ap­pointed but what a great sea­son he has had.

Ladies 21-up con­tin­ues, to be fol­lowed by the Ladies B grade cham­pi­onship.

Ladies make sure you get your names down for the fi­nal cham­pi­onship event for the sea­son.

The pen­nant home and away sea­son is now com­pleted with Tocumwal to be rep­re­sented by a num­ber of teams in the fi­nals.

The Fri­day pen­nant semi fi­nals will be played at Finley RS on Fri­day.

Di­vi­sion One will see Tocumwal Golf face Co­bram; and Nu­murkah Golf face Finley.

Di­vi­sion Two fea­tures Pi­cola vs Tocumwal Golf Two and Nathalia v Tocumwal Golf Three.

In the Satur­day pen­nant Tocumwal’s Di­vi­sion Three will face Finley One at Nu­murkah Golf.

Finley RS Satur­day Di­vi­sion One has held on to a fi­nals spot de­spite go­ing down to Wunghnu 82-90.

Di­vi­sion Three went down to Tocumwal 66-83, but also fin­ished in the top four.

In the elim­i­na­tion games this Satur­day, Di­vi­sion One will play at Wunghnu. Se­lected teams are: I Smethurst (s), R Brown, M Mar­aldo, M Smethurst; J Towns­ing (s), M Lewis, Kieran Beare, R Ameer; S Lunn (s), W Blanch, T Turner, P Wil­son; A West (s), P El­lul, J Pea­cock, K John­son.

Fri­day pen­nant fin­ished their sea­son on a high, de­feat­ing Berri­gan 76-50 with two rink wins, fin­ish­ing the sea­son in fifth place.

With great greens and a great day and 28 teams com­pet­ing Trade Day at the RSC on Thurs­day was en­joyed by all. Win­ners were A West, J Pea­cock and M Krug.
