Last chance to sign up for char­ity golf and bowls day

The Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowl­ing Club will host a char­ity Golf & Bowls day this Sun­day, with all pro­ceeds go­ing to Mo­tor Neu­rone Disease and drought re­lief.

The morn­ing will start at 10am with a nine hole, 3 per­son Am­brose Par 3 course.

Once the golf is fin­ished you will head to the bowls green and play two games of eight ends, three bowls triples.

It will be draw for teams, and the same team will play golf and bowls.

En­try is $20 per team, which in­cludes a bar­be­cue lunch.

En­tries to the club no­tice­boards or phone 5885 2229 by this Fri­day.

This prom­ises to be a great com­mu­nity day and is for all ages, and ev­ery­one is en­cour­aged to get be­hind this great cause.

Daw­mac is host­ing an­other Bar­be­cue Fundraiser in sup­port of the McGrath Foun­da­tion.

It will be held this Fri­day in the Daw­mac drive­way on Chanter St.

The menu in­cludes both beef and chicken sausages, ba­con and egg rolls and drinks.

Pre-or­ders are en­cour­aged so you don’t miss out.

The Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Gar­den is look­ing amaz­ing.

The com­mit­tee has been har­vest­ing broc­coli, spinach, sil­ver beet, let­tuce, kale and pars­ley.

Take a walk and see what you can pick for your din­ner, or join the group on Wed­nes­days at 1.30pm or Satur­day morn­ings at 9.30am.

Mem­ber­ship is grow­ing, and is only $5 per per­son.

Forms can be picked up from Book­inChanters or at the gar­den. All pro­ceeds from mem­ber­ship go to­wards pur­chas­ing seeds, seedlings, sea­sol and many other items.

Kids Fest will be on again this year, on Tues­day, Oc­to­ber 23 from 4pm to 6pm.

There will be a farewell din­ner for Mark Rooney at the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Club this Sun­day at 6pm.

All golf and bowls mem­bers and friends are wel­come to farewell Mark.

There will be a Chi­nese din­ner avail­able at your own cost.

The com­mu­nity was sad­dened to learn of the pass­ing of Jimmy Kor­tum two weeks ago.

Sym­pa­thy is ex­tended to Chris, Mandy and Pip Kor­tum and the ex­tended Kor­tum fam­ily on his pass­ing.

Jimmy’s fu­neral was held on Oc­to­ber 5 and he was laid to rest at the Ber­ri­gan Lawn Ceme­tery.

The Ber­ri­gan and Oak­lands com­mu­ni­ties were sad­dened to hear of the pass­ing of Vic Bonat last Tues­day.

Vic is sur­vived by his wife Eileen and chil­dren Maria, Paulette and Brent.

Vic and Eileen re­tired to Ber­ri­gan from Oak­lands and, with Vic’s long as­so­ci­a­tion of 35 years at West Corur­gan, were known to many from around the dis­trict.

Vic’s fu­neral was held last Satur­day and he was laid to rest at the Ber­ri­gan Lawn Ceme­tery.

The Ber­ri­gan Cup is fast ap­proach­ing and prom­ises to be an­other big race meet­ing. If you have an RSA and would like to work, please con­tact Maria Haintz on 0438 058 054.

Please save the date for the Christ­mas Mar­ket Night/Carols on Fri­day, De­cem­ber 7.

This year the carols will also be held on the same night as the mar­ket night.

There will be stalls, the Red Cross Ex­trav­a­ganza and plenty of en­ter­tain­ment for the chil­dren.
