Shop local to win
There’s never been a better time to do your Christmas shopping right here in Finley, thanks to the Finley Christmas Shopping Bonanza.
The Finley Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture promotion — proudly supported by the SOUTHERN RIVERINA NEWS — has been running for one week, and its first winners were drawn on Monday.
Just for shopping locally, Jenny Smith, Beris Strelec and John Allan have each won a $100 voucher to be spent at participating businesses.
There’s another $1200 in vouchers to be won over coming weeks, with three $100 vouchers drawn each week.
The promotion will culminate with the major prize draw at the Xmas Xtravaganza on Saturday, December 22.
The owner of the drawn entry automatically wins $250, but if they are at the event and can claim their prize within a set time limit their prizemoney will double.
Finley Chamber president Gary Carr said while the chamber rewards those who shop local every year with the Shopping Bonanza, the current economic climate makes supporting this year’s promotion more important.
‘‘The hardships of drought can have an affect on all local business, so now it’s vital we support Finley businesses,’’ Mr Carr said.
‘‘Finley has a diverse range of shops and the owners, managers and staff are always willing to help you where they can.
‘‘Supporting local business plays an important role in keeping the town strong, and in Finley we know how to rally behind our businesses.
‘‘It might only be mid-November, but you should not leave it too late to do all of that Christmas shopping.’’
