Pokies, ATM targeted at sports club
Two people allegedly wearing balaclavas were reportedly seen at the Jerilderie Sports Club early Saturday morning after the club’s alarm sounded.
The alarm sounded about 5.30am and, soon after, witnesses claim to have seen two people with their faces covered.
Witnesses say they called out, which prompted the two people to flee.
In giving chase, the witnesses told police they were confronted by a man holding a metal bar.
The man then got in to a grey Ford Falcon and left the scene.
Police say the club’s poker machines have coins and money missing. They said there is also evidence to suggest the club’s ATM was the next target, but could not be compromised before the alarm sounded.
