Christ­mas light judg­ing on tonight

The judg­ing of the colour­ful Christ­mas lights com­pe­ti­tion will be held tonight.

The judges will have a tough job as there are some great dis­plays with ev­ery­one putting in a great ef­fort.

If you haven't driven around, tonight would be the night to look at all the lights.

Good luck to ev­ery­one who has par­tic­i­pated.

The win­ners will be an­nounced at the Daw­mac Com­mu­nity Break­fast on Satur­day morn­ing.

This is the 24th year the Com­mu­nity Break­fast has been held and the break­fast is free.

The or­gan­is­ers would love to see you there en­joy­ing a ce­real, eggs, ba­con, or­ange juice and tea and cof­fee and of course the op­por­tu­nity to catch up with peo­ple and wish ev­ery­one a Merry Christ­mas.

Mass times for Christ­mas at St Columba’s are as fol­lows: Christ­mas Eve 5.30pm vigil in Ber­ri­gan and 8pm in Mul­wala.

Christ­mas Day 8am in Mul­wala and 10am in Ba­rooga.

The Na­tional Sum­mer Read­ing Club will re­turn to the Ber­ri­gan Li­brary and on­line at sum­mer­read­ing­club.org.au.

This event takes place in more than 1000 li­braries across the coun­try.

Cre­ated for chil­dren be­tween five and 12 years-old, the Sum­mer Read­ing Club is a free pro­gram that in­stils a love of li­braries and read­ing.

This year's theme, Cu­ri­ous Crea­tures, en­cour­ages young read­ers to dis­cover new worlds through read­ing and on­line.

If you have any queries about this pro­gram call into the li­brary and ask Anne or Jenny.

The Com­mu­nity Club will be hav­ing a two per­son am­brose com­pe­ti­tion on Sun­day, De­cem­ber 30. This is a fun so­cial day and is for all ages and golf­ing hand­i­capped and non hand­i­capped play­ers.

Golfers are asked to or­gan­ise their own part­ners.

Ber­ri­gan Red Cross wish to thank ev­ery­one for their loyal and much ap­pre­ci­ated sup­port. Merry Christ­mas to you all. Ex­trav­a­ganza raf­fle win­ners were: Fri­day night - 1st prize Agnes King­ham; 2nd Rene.

Satur­day - 1st prize Marg Arnold; 2nd Betty Bur­wood.

Ber­ri­gan UHA wish to thank ev­ery­one for their val­ued sup­port of the mon­ster raf­fle, drawn at the mar­ket night.

The lucky win­ner was Chris Lad­som from Mul­wala.

All pro­ceeds from the raf­fle go to­wards equip­ment and pa­tient care at the Hos­pi­tal (MPS).

On Christ­mas Eve the Unit­ing Church is hav­ing a carol ser­vice at 8pm, fol­lowed by a light supper. All are wel­come.

The BDDA will be hold­ing its monthly meet­ing and Christ­mas Party tonight at the RSL Sub Branch rooms from 7pm.

The BDDA in­vites the com­mu­nity to join them and end the year on a pos­i­tive note.

Ber­ri­gan Bowls is hav­ing a Christ­mas windup at the Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowls Club to­mor­row.

The event starts at 6pm with a smor­gas­bord meal. All bowlers wel­come.

So­cial bowls will con­tinue be­tween pen­nant breaks at 4pm on Sundays.

The Com­mu­nity Golf & Bowls Club would wel­come any­one con­sid­er­ing tak­ing up bowls to join them.
