Murrumbidgee Mayor Ruth McRae:

Southern Riverina news - - NEWS -

Murrumbidgee Council continues to be a busy and productive LGA.

The past year has seen many challenges and many opportunities come our way.

The full realisation of the drought conditions compounded by ongoing lack of certainty around all matters water finds our communities seriously tested.

Council will continue to advocate for sound rationalisation and equal opportunity with all spheres of government as this valuable commodity is so often used as a political hot potato.

Council has been allocated very generous ongoing funding. With Stronger Country Communities Fund round two announcements and another disbursement of merger implementation moneys, council has ample opportunity to make considered decisions that will see us comfortably and appropriately catered for into the future.

Council has warmly welcomed our new general manager John Scarce and his family to Jerilderie.

I would like to thank all Murrumbidgee Council staff for their commitment to council and their communities.

Likewise the councillors who generously give of their time and provide that valuable link between the community and the operational organisation.

My very best wishes to all in our community and surrounding communities for a Merry Christmas and a safe and prosperous New Year. We look forward to 2019 with renewed energy and focus, making this productive and vital part of the world the best it can be.
