Fruit fly joint project

Southern Riverina news - - NEWS -

District Lions Clubs have joined the Berrigan Shire and Moira Shire councils to help detect and prevent the spread of Queensland Fruit Fly in the local area.

As part of the ‘No Flies on Us’ campaign, Finley Lions Club members recently spent time with St Joseph’s, Finley students making fly traps from soft drink bottles.

The students also learned about the life cycle of the fruit fly and the various baits to use to eradicate them.

Each student received a label to colour in and stick on their bottle, and an information pack to take home.

Finley Lions will visit Finley Public School to run the same program this year.
