Varied experiences for locals at Xmas
Things have quietened down a little after the Christmas rush, with visitors making their way back home in many cases.
Leslie Earsman enjoyed the company of her daughter and son-in-law Gail and Graham Miller for Christmas.
Chris Ellis, after a relaxing Christmas Day in Melbourne, had a visit from her Sydneybased daughter Sasha and her three children for a few days recently.
Gerard and Chris McFarlane visited family in Jerilderie after Christmas, and caught up with old friends again, before returning to Armstrong Creek in Victoria, on Tuesday.
Laurie and Joan Blackmore returned from a White Christmas in Canada where they ‘enjoyed’ temperatures in the minus-20s, to return to temps over 40 degrees.
Fortunately for them the cool change came the day after they arrived home.
The winners of the Jerilderie Independent Living Ltd (JILL) raffle drawn on December 22 were Bec Belling (Westinghouse 40L microwave), Vicky Purcell (GVA 85L Top Mount fridge), Rachel Pitt (Linden 80cm HD LED LCD TV), Faith Bryce (Vax Pet Pro Barrel Vacuum), Colin Sweeney (Philips Air Fryer), Louis Kelly (Sunbeam Toaster & Kettle Pack).
The raffle was run with the help of members of Jerilderie Tidy Towns and Jerilderie Menshed.
Thanks to everyone who supported this fundraiser for the Independent Living Units.
Everyone, even those who say they enjoy the heat, must have breathed a sigh of relief when the temperature returned to the mid20s for a couple of days over the weekend.
We all needed a break to recover and regroup.
The Healthy Hearts Exercise class will reconvene on Tuesday, January 15, at the Sporting Complex. Starting time is 10am for 10.15am. It may be a good way to work off some of the results of the Christmas festivities.
Volunteers for Vinnies are reminded that new rosters up to mid-February are now in the shop.
