Swim­ming stars make a splash

St. Columba’s Pri­mary School held its swim­ming car­ni­val last Fri­day night.

In ideal swim­ming con­di­tions, stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in a great man­ner and en­joyed the evening. The tro­phy win­ners were as fol­lows: Ju­nior Boy Cham­pion - Lach­lan Whe­lan; Ju­nior Girl Cham­pion - Wil­low Laing; 11 Years Boy Cham­pion - Kye Laing; Se­nior Boy Cham­pion - Fin­lay Laing; Cham­pion Male Swim­mer - Lach­lan Whe­lan; Cham­pion Fe­male Swim­mer - Wil­low Laing.

In­ter­na­tional Women’s Day is fast ap­proach­ing and the speaker for this year will be Glenna Thomson who has writ­ten two books.

The lun­cheon will be on Fri­day, March 8 start­ing at mid­day.

Please book your spot at the li­brary.

The net­ball sea­son is up and run­ning and with the new courts the com­mit­tee is look­ing for­ward to see­ing ju­niors and se­niors us­ing this great fa­cil­ity.

Tonight will be Un­der 13s train­ing start­ing at 4pm, for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion please con­tact Deb­bie on 0400 331 824.

Un­der 15s train­ing will start to­mor­row night from 4pm, for fur­ther in­for­ma­tion con­tact Michelle on 0474 133 310.

Se­nior tri­als will start at 6pm on Tues­day, Fe­bru­ary 26, with other tri­als held on Thurs­day, Fe­bru­ary 28 and Thurs­day, March 7.

All girls want­ing to play in the 2019 sea­son are ex­pected to come to the tri­als.

The next meet­ing of the Ber­ri­gan Races is fast ap­proach­ing, with pun­ters set for a day at the race­course on Satur­day, March 16.

There will Fash­ions on the Field in­clud­ing Lady of the Day, Cou­ple of the Day, Lit­tle Race­goer and Young Race­goer.

Chil­dren’s en­ter­tain­ment, jump­ing cas­tle and face paint­ing and live mu­sic will be played through­out the day.

Mar­quee and Um­brella pack­ages are avail­able or you can book a ta­ble in the re­served mar­quee.

The BDDA will be host­ing a ‘Wel­come to Ber­ri­gan’ bar­be­cue at the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Club on Sun­day, April 28.

If you have moved to the area in the last two years you are in­vited to come and en­joy a meal, meet new peo­ple and find out what ser­vices are avail­able in Ber­ri­gan.

World Day of Prayer for this year will be hosted by St. Ai­dan's Angli­can Church, Ber­ri­gan at 10am on Fri­day, March 1. Guest speaker this year is Iris Miles. Slove­nia is the coun­try which has pre­pared this ser­vice and the theme is ‘Come - Every­thing is Ready’.

Ev­ery­one is wel­come so we hope that you will come along and join in the prayer.

Morn­ing tea will be served in the church af­ter the ser­vice.

The next so­cial day on the golf course will be a three per­son am­brose com­pe­ti­tion on Sun­day, March 10.

The com­mit­tee would like to see the busi­ness houses play­ing and are en­cour­aged to or­gan­ise a team of three.

There will be lots of prizes to be won and a great so­cial day will be had by all.
