Last chance to take a dip
The hotter days are slowly coming to an end so it’s high time for Finley locals to take advantage of the facilities at the pool.
After three determined years by the hard working management committee, new seating, tables, chairs and much more have been installed to improve the family friendly atmosphere around the pool area.
With the new installations and upgrades, committee president Linda Turley is encouraging not just pool users but families to come and stay for a barbecue and swim.
‘‘There’s the beautiful barbecue area under the shade. It’s been a three year effort to revamp the pool and work on getting the little things like more seating in the shade.
‘‘Water misters have been installed around the new pergola to keep people cool on really hot days.
‘‘Accessing the pool has also been made easier with new stairs suitable for anyone, including elderly and disabled, rather than going in straight up the wall.
‘‘We want people of all ages to be able to use the facility as much as possible.’’
Mrs Turley said the pool committee has been lucky to receive financial contributions from other community groups such as Rotary, Lions and Apex.
‘‘The committee has worked hard to ensure the facilities are up to standard.
‘‘We’ve done our own working bees, refilled and cleaned the pool instead of wasting money on chemicals.
‘‘There’s always feedback from the community on how we can improve the facility and we’ve taken on board what needs to be upgraded or fixed.
‘‘The support of community groups who have contributed funds has allowed us to spend the money on what locals want.
‘‘There are some parents and families who also do little things like sticking around to help clean up.
“This year has been quite successful for the pool and we thank the community for the support,’’ Mrs Turley said.
The Finley Pool sold about 400 membership tickets this year, which was about 100 more than anticipated.
