Business nominees meet the judges
Interviews for the 2019 Berrigan Shire Business Awards were held yesterday at the Tocumwal Golf Club conference room, and the judges are now deliberating to select the eight finalists.
Twelve 25 minute interviews were held and the judges commented on the incredibly high standard and wonderful diversity in business they have seen.
Judging panel chairman and local representative Spencer Rutherford said it will not be an easy decision.
‘‘The judges’ task is not an enviable one as, ultimately, four businesses will miss out on the finalist status,’’ he said.
‘‘But they have all been very interesting and we would like to thank them all for their effort in presenting for the interview.
‘‘It is great to see so much imagination and innovation in our local business community, and we will end with eight top class businesses in the finals.’’
A new format has been adopted for the 2019 Berrigan Shire Business Awards, with this year’s awards based on the joint theme of ‘Made in Berrigan Shire’ and ‘What’s new in Berrigan Shire?’
Mayor Matt Hannan said the new format is ‘‘rolling out well’’.
‘‘We have found a few points that will need to be ironed out in the future, but overall it has been a good process.
‘‘We hope the businesses that have been involved in the interviews today get a sense of satisfaction from it.’’
Each of the eight finalists selected by the judges will be offered the chance to develop a professionally styled promotional video to showcase their business.
The eight videos will be launched on the evening of the Business Awards dinner, held at the Cobram Barooga Golf Club on April 17.
Tickets for this great night out will be available soon.
