The Division Two Bloods were eliminated from the finals on Saturday with the powerful Barooga side much too strong.
Fielding a team with a combination of experience and youth all season, the Bloods had done a remarkable job to make the semi-finals at all.
Barooga batted first and made a commanding 9/225 from its 35 overs, including an unbeaten 102 from Peter O’Kane.
The Hawks were in brutal touch but the Bloods did a great job in the field. Paul Mangion was the star with the ball taking a splendid 5/40 to end the season on a high.
The massive target was always going to be a challenge for the Toc side. Skipper Andrew Jones (36) battled gamely at the top to lead the way. Tom Oliver (18) produced a gem of a knock to keep the scoreboard moving.
The Bloods ultimately fell well but denied the Hawks the chance to bowl them out with Ray Balcombe (7 not out) and Hunter Hardwidge (5 no) standing firm late in the day. The Bloods closed at 6/82 after 35 overs.
