Sascha makes a splash

Fin­ley High School stu­dent Sascha Jones has set an im­pres­sive nine new school records at the an­nual twi­light swim­ming car­ni­val.

The 15 year-old set new records in ev­ery in­di­vid­ual event in which she com­peted, in the most dom­i­nant dis­play of re­cent mem­ory.

Other no­table record break­ers were the Ch­esworths, with sib­lings Erin and Ben also set­ting new school records.

The weather was ideal for swim­ming and the scene was set for a great bat­tle be­tween the houses of Coree, Fin­ley, Mur­ray and Tup­pal.

In a hotly con­tested event, Fin­ley came out on top as the cham­pion house.

The car­ni­val had a won­der­ful vibe which was con­trib­uted to by the en­thu­si­asm of the se­nior co­hort, es­pe­cially year 12.

The 2019 girls age cham­pion ti­tles were won by Erin Chesworth (12 years), Dakota Pyle (13 years), Mor­gan Evans (14 years), Jemma Coombs (15 years), Sascha Jones (16 years) and Ni­amh Ma­son (17 years).

The 2019 boys age cham­pion ti­tles were won by Jor­dan Sykes (12 years), Ja­cob Orro (13 years), Travis Law­ton (14 years), Zan­der Nash (15 years), Will Sex­ton and Rory Knight (16 years) and Ben Ash­ley-Cooper (17 years).

Fin­ley High School prin­ci­pal Jeff Ward said it was won­der­ful see the sig­nif­i­cant num­ber of par­ents who were able to come and watch and par­tic­i­pate in this car­ni­val, that rep­re­sents a rig­or­ous sea­son of train­ing by many stu­dents.

14 years cham­pi­ons Travis Law­ton and Mor­gan Evans.

16 years cham­pi­ons Will Sex­ton, Rory Knight and Sascha Jones.

13 years cham­pi­ons Ja­cob Orro and Dakota Pyle.
