Tocumwal Tocumwal Three have claimed the Mur­ray Bowls Divi­sion ti­tle in Divi­sion Four fol­low­ing a win over Strath­mer­ton in the grand fi­nal at Nu­murkah on Satur­day.

Tocumwal man­aged wins on both rinks to record the out­right 46 to 35 re­sults, with Robert Adams rink win­ning 24 to 22 and Alan White­side’s team vic­to­ri­ous 22 to 13.

Com­mis­er­a­tions to Toc. One and Two, who both went down in their grand fi­nals.

Toc. One were de­feated in the Divi­sion Two fi­nal by Co­bram by five shots, while Toc. Two were de­feated in the Divi­sion Three fi­nal by Jer­ilderie by three shots.

Both of these matches were very closely con­tested right up un­til the last ends and kept the very large crowd of spec­ta­tors on the edge of their seats all af­ter­noon.

Tocumwal fielded four teams for Satur­day pen­nant and two for Fri­day pen­nant and the club con­grat­u­lates all play­ers on a great 2018/19 sea­son.

Men’s triples win­ners for 2018/2019 are Harry Mal­loy, John Wil­son and Garry Beer.

Men’s 100 up is still pro­gress­ing through the rounds with Garry Beer into the fi­nal af­ter a win over Alan Jones and Graeme Searle to play Dave Hansen for the other fi­nal place.

The Men’s ‘B’ grade is also pro­gress­ing with Ken Gaffney and Garry Beer, and Dave Hansen and Ian Tay­lor to play for spots in the fi­nal of this event.

The Ladies Cana­dian Pairs fi­nal will fea­ture Wendy Da­ley and Jill White­side against Sheila Kufner and Lois Bird.

Ladies B Grade saw wins by Leigh Hansen over He­len Bow­man and Sheila Kufner over Aileen Phelan.

Two more ma­jor events are com­ing up for the club start­ing with The Al­lan Seamer this Satur­day.

There are still a few places avail­able for this Satur­day.

The fi­nal event for the sea­son is the Easter Tour­na­ment with five days of great bowl­ing.

Fin­ley BC The pen­nant sea­son is now com­pleted. Con­grat­u­la­tions to the win­ners of each divi­sion.

The Fin­ley Bowl­ing Club had a great sea­son that saw both Div. Two and Four play in the elim­i­na­tion fi­nals round.

Free time on Satur­days will now al­low for club com­pe­ti­tions to be com­pleted.

In the Men’s Pairs, bowls sec­re­tary Don McKel­lar and John Mont­gomery de­feated Ge­off Trevor­row and Bob Poore in a closely con­tested game.

They now move on to the fi­nal against Mark Milthorpe and Al­lan Cowan.

Matches in the Men’s 100 up Pairs Cham­pi­onship will be con­tin­ued this week.

There has been a good re­sponse from play­ers for the El­lis Thorn­ton Ro­tary Bowls Fours and Pairs Med­ley con­test to be held on Wed­nes­day, March 27.

Teams are made up of four play­ers, any com­bi­na­tion or­der.

Ro­tary pres­i­dent Deb­bie Jewell is de­lighted with the re­sponse to date and urges all play­ers not al­ready com­mit­ted to en­ter a team to en­sure the suc­cess of the tour­na­ment, as all funds raised will be wisely spent on lo­cal Ro­tary projects.

The event is open to all lo­cal clubs and par­tic­i­pa­tion from them would be wel­come.

Bowls is held ev­ery avail­able Sun­day morn­ing. Win­ners last week were Brian An­der­son and Betty Robin­son.

Con­so­la­tion prize went to Marie Koschel and Ron Pent­land.

A new method of scor­ing will be in­tro­duced on March 31. Points will be al­lo­cated for a win and ends won. A hand­i­cap as­sess­ment of each team, with ad­just­ments, will also be used.

The en­try fee will in­clude en­try to a jack­pot pay­ment. More de­tails are set out on the club no­tices.

Marie Koschel was de­lighted to be cho­sen to present medal­lions to the win­ning pen­nant teams of the Mid­week pen­nant com­pe­ti­tion last Fri­day.

She has many suc­cesses in as­so­ci­a­tion cham­pi­onships and zone fi­nals.

Events re­quir­ing player sup­port in­clude The Al­lan Seamer at Tocumwal on Satur­day, March 16 and the El­lis Thorn­ton Ro­tary Med­ley, Wed­nes­day, March 27.

A fundraiser for school chil­dren will be held at the club at 6pm on Fri­day night.

Ber­ri­gan With none of the Ber­ri­gan teams rep­re­sented in the pen­nant grand fi­nals it was a quiet week for Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Bowls Club.

This week will see ac­tion re­turn to the Ber­ri­gan greens with the first round of the Betty Cobb Club Open Hand­i­cap Sin­gles to be played to­mor­row start­ing at 5pm.

En­tries must be in by 5pm to­day and all club mem­bers are en­cour­aged to en­ter.

Ber­ri­gan will host the North­ern Over 60s on Tues­day with some va­cant spots still avail­able for teams wish­ing to en­ter.

The team of David Wood­ward and Matt Hansen, and Beth Bash­ford and Rachel Head will rep­re­sent Ber­ri­gan at the Mur­ray Bowls Divi­sion Cham­pion of Cham­pi­ons Pairs event at Wunghnu on Sun­day.

En­tries are start­ing to come in for the Garry McLen­nan Open three-bowl triples tour­na­ment on Satur­day, March 30.

The club’s pre­sen­ta­tion night will be held on Satur­day, April 6 at 6.30pm with a Chi­nese smor­gas­bord meal.

A sheet is on the club no­tice­board for those want­ing to at­tend. Also on April 6 is the Club Mixed Pairs cham­pi­onship.
