Big charity bowling day
Finley Rotary, with the support of the Finley Bowling Club, has again hosted another successful Ellis Thornton Rotary Bowls Day.
The total raised is still be tallied, but Finley Rotary president Debbie Jewell said it is expected to be a significant amount despite lower bowling numbers.
Funds raised will be spent on projects undertaken by Finley Rotary, including donations towards all three Finley schools, the Timor-Leste Immersion Program, exercise equipment around the lake and improving the walking track around the lake.
‘‘We’re so happy with the local people for their support,’’ Mrs Jewell said.
‘‘Numbers were down slightly but we’re still pleased to have raised a substantial amount.
‘‘Rotary did not field a side this year, but we’re hoping to put together a side for next year as some Rotarians are bowlers.’’
Winning the bowls day was the Deniliquin RSL side.
Mrs Jewell thanked all volunteers, sponsors, supporters and the Finley Bowling Club.
