It was a mixed bag of cat­tle at the Fin­ley sale, with not a lot of weight across the yard, al­though there was a small run of ex­cel­lent sup­ple­men­tary fed year­lings and a small num­ber of veal­ers. The bal­ance of the yard was store con­di­tioned cat­tle.

A few lo­cal pro­duc­ers were ac­tive on the lighter weighted stock, as feed lot­ters picked through the bet­ter bred lines of heav­ier year­lings. Prices lifted on all fin­ished cat­tle to the trade and cow prices in­creased by 20c to 40c/kg on a fort­night ago. The best of the B mus­cled sup­ple­men­tary fed veal­ers made to 330c/kg.

The B and C mus­cled sup­ple­men­tary fed year­ling steers sold from 295c to 330c/kg.

The feeder steer por­tion over 330kg lwt made from 210c to 257c/kg. The year­ling heifers sup­ple­men­tary fed made to 328c/kg.

The 400-500kg steers reached 302c/kg. The 500-600kg steers made to 274c/kg. Only 96 cows were of­fered, with the C4 beef cows mak­ing to 212c/kg. The heavy Friesian cows made to 190c/kg.
