Jer­ilderie let early lead slip

Jer­ilderie A grade has started the Pi­cola & Dis­trict League sea­son with a loss af­ter al­low­ing Kata­matite to run away in the sec­ond half.

The Dees went into round one clash at Kata­matite with a new line up with a good com­bi­na­tion of old and new.

The vis­i­tors started off the game strong and showed Katty ex­actly what they're made of.

Tanya Ro­rato and Rhi­an­non Roe started off the game well putting the Dees in the lead.

Great de­fen­sive pres­sure down the whole court was shown by all play­ers, with young gun Sara Smith pick­ing up many turn overs.

The sec­ond half saw the Dees slow down slightly and a few fum­bles put them be­hind.

The game was a great in­di­ca­tion of what this team can do and what they are ca­pa­ble of achiev­ing through­out the year.

Jer­ilderie’s B grade girls played a great game, with the reign­ing pre­miers record­ing a 10 goal win.

The de­fen­sive pres­sure all the way down the court was ex­cel­lent with new comer Ella Goldsmith getting a few turnovers.

The at­tack­ing end was also strong, and the ball flowed nicely from the mid­court down into the ring.

Young guns Alex Patu and So­phie Roe both made their se­nior net­ball de­but putting in an amaz­ing ef­fort.

Jer­ilderie’s C grade had a strong start to the sea­son, with nine play­ers who had never played to­gether be­fore win­ning by nine goals.

The team ef­fort was amaz­ing with all play­ers talk­ing and en­cour­ag­ing each other as a coach you couldn’t have asked for more

Fee Ed­wards played an out­stand­ing game in goals and Ellen God­dard in WD.

The C re­serve girls started the game off strong with Emily Ford, Peta Neessen and Tanya Love­hill play­ing in goals, and Michelle Baker and Jas­mine in defence.

Sam Mc­Don­ald, Lucy Fay, Mag­gie Har­ris and Stacey Crutch held a sturdy mid­court.

The girls played a con­sis­tent game through­out the four quar­ters, lead­ing for most of the day, only to un­for­tu­nately to go down by only two goals.

Jer­ilderie Under 15s got their sea­son off to a strong start with a 10 goal win over Kata­matite.

This is a new team, with some girls play­ing to­gether for the first time, that is cer­tain to im­prove fur­ther this sea­son.

It was a great start to the U13s sea­son with a five goal win to Jer­ilderie.

The Dees had plenty of great in­ter­cepts and court po­si­tion­ing, with the defence was tough and at­tack­ers shoot­ing well.
