10th tee hon­our for Bob

The Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Club is de­lighted to hon­our the late Bob Bar­nett, with a Me­mo­rial Tee named in his hon­our on the 10th hole.

Bobby was a great worker for the club for many years.

Make sure you go and have a look at the sign and spe­cial thanks to Bur­ley’s for pro­vid­ing the sign.

The Com­mu­nity Gar­den is grow­ing gi­ants — come along and join the group for lunch on Tues­day, May 7 to find out more.

To cel­e­brate its first birth­day, mem­bers of the Com­mu­nity Gar­den will serve up pump­kin and trom­bone zuc­chini soup, sausages in bread, and billy tea.

As for the gi­ants, check out the gi­ant pump­kins and see one mem­ber’s ex­per­i­ments with gi­ant bales (wheat and maize), turn­ing them into gar­den beds.

Tidy Towns Com­mit­tee ad­vises that due to van­dal­ism in the Bird Hide at the Tank Pad­dock, it will be tem­po­rar­ily closed for re­pairs.

On a hap­pier note, the group is look­ing for an orig­i­nal photo of what used to be the grand­stand at ‘The Old Rec’. The group al­ready has a sketch.

The win­ner of the Ber­ri­gan Show wood raf­fle last Fri­day was David O’Dwyer.

The Ber­ri­gan and Dis­trict Devel­op­ment As­so­ci­a­tion will be host­ing a ‘Wel­come to Ber­ri­gan’ bar­be­cue at the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Club on Sun­day, April 28 from mid­day.

Any­one wish­ing to par­tic­i­pate in this year’s Ber­ri­gan Am­a­teur Dra­matic So­ci­ety pro­duc­tion — on stage, back stage or else­where — is in­vited to con­tact Si­mone on 0429 099 420 or Matt on 0427 635 396.

Cast­ing night will take place on Mon­day, April 29 at the hall.

Show dates are Satur­day, Au­gust 3, Sun­day, Au­gust 4 (mati­nee), Fri­day, Au­gust 9 and Satur­day, Au­gust 10.

Easter is just a few days away and the Ber­ri­gan Com­mu­nity Club will be host­ing free fun day in sup­port of our drought af­fected farm­ers and com­mu­nity.

At 11am on Easter Sun­day there will be an Easter egg hunt, a free bar­be­cue from 12.30pm and live en­ter­tain­ment from Mark Haze from 1pm.

Golf and bowls will be avail­able all day for all ages, all lev­els and ev­ery­one is wel­come.

For ca­ter­ing pur­poses please regis­ter your at­ten­dance to the club on 5885 2229.

The Com­mu­nity Club held a so­cial golf/ bowls day last Sun­day.

There were seven teams who en­joyed the va­ri­ety of nine holes and golf and then a roll of bowls.

Win­ners were Barry Hawker and Billy Bucket, and run­ners up were Thomas Whe­lan, Jan Dor­man and Julie Bor­toli.

The Ber­ri­gan Chil­dren’s Cen­tre will hold an Easter egg hunt and hat pa­rade to­day, at the cen­tre from 3pm. All fam­i­lies and friends of the cen­tre are wel­come.

The Ber­ri­gan Foot­ball Netball Club will play Tocumwal this Fri­day, at Tocumwal.

This is al­ways a big game and Ber­ri­gan will be look­ing for a win in front of a big crowd, so come along and sup­port the foot­ballers and net­ballers.

Mem­ber­ships are now due. Se­nior player $150, re­serves and ju­nior play­ers $100 (NSW Active Kids Voucher is claimable), sin­gle non-player $90, net­baller $60, pen­sioner $40 and pa­tron $300.

On April 23 there will a school hol­i­day ac­tiv­ity — ‘String, Balls and But­ton Bowls’. Sounds like a great way to fill in a cou­ple of hours.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Lach­lan Whe­lan and Josh Monteath from St Columba’s who came first in their age group for the Cross Coun­try Dean­ery Car­ni­val last Tues­day at Tocumwal.

Josh and Lach­lan will be busy train­ing over the hol­i­days in readi­ness to par­tic­i­pate at the next level in Hol­brook.

There will be an Ec­u­meni­cal Good Fri­day ser­vice start­ing at Ama­roo Aged Care at 11am.

The ser­vice will in­clude a short walk around stop­ping at dif­fer­ent places for three or four sta­tions, fin­ish­ing at St Ai­dan’s An­gli­can Church.

Ev­ery­one is wel­come, so please come and join with us on this most sa­cred day of the year.

An­zac Day will be next Thurs­day and to hon­our this spe­cial day Daw­mac has put a dis­play in its win­dow, courtesy of Ber­ri­gan Her­itage Mu­seum.
