Golfers, bowlers help raise $21,000 for appeal

- Judy Ryan

The 2021 Good Friday Golf Day for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal was held in Jerilderie in perfect autumn weather.

More than 190 golfers took part in the 9-hole and 18- hole ambrose events.

The bowling greens were busy from 2.30pm, with enthusiastic, if not entirely skilful players, taking part in bare foot bowls, with laughs and scathing remarks being shared in equal measure.

Teams of tin rattlers were busy around town during the day, gathering donations.

At this point an amount of $21,000 has been raised so far, with many promised donations to come in.

Congratulations to the organisers and their helpers for a very successful fundraiser.

The golf/bowls day is a great opportunity for old friends and families to get together for the start of an enjoyable Easter weekend.

Volunteers from among the ‘netball family’ are currently in short supply, and any outside help from the wider community would be greatly appreciated.

A volunteer would be required to do a shift of two to three hours on the day, no baking required! If you would like to help out please contact Carmen.
