-

The amazing efforts from everyone who participated in this years Ian Sneddon MND Golf Fundraiser Day 2022 in Jerilderie in June has resulted in $18,000 being raised.

The amount was raised through local and through online donations, and thanks to locals who participated in the Big Freeze.

Emma Hurslton, Sara Smith, Keshia Strano, Sophie Roe and Ben Nash all braved the icy waters as part of the fundraiser.

As they were unable to attend the Jerilderie golf day, Yarrawonga pair Malcolm and Charley McKenna from Black Bull Golf Club Yarrawonga held thier own Big Freeze event at their home club, with proceeds donated to the Jerilderie efforts.

A cheque was presented to Daniel Woodward from MND Victoria last week, by Jerilderie MND Committee president Steve Dalgliesh and secretary Carmel Butcher.

Butcher said Woodward was suitably impressed with the donation, and that he thanked everyone for the amazing effort.

“MND merchandise sold very well on both days, and anyone is interested in buying beanies, ankle socks or long socks can contact our Facebook page to keep the fundraising going,” Butcher said.

“Thank you to all our very generous sponsors and golfers who make these days such a successful fundraiser for MND Victoria.

“They provide valuable support to families in local surrounding areas of New South Wales and Victoria that are going through this terrible disease.

“Make sure you get your team in for next year. Out event is always held the second weekend in June.”

The golf day is named in honour of Ian Sneddon, a community stalwart who lost his battle with motor neurone disease in 2019.

Sneddon was a driving force behind local MND fundraisers before his death.

These efforts also include the annual Two Rivers Tractor Trek.
